KAPIL SIBAL

The central government IT Minister, Kapil Sibal proposal for putting cap on the social network against unfiltered material which may caused communal violence in the country, has unleashed a storm of criticism from Internet daily users, who are complaining of the decision of Mr.Sibal literally putting censorship in the world’s biggest democracy on electronic media for expression of free thoughts on bloggers and Twitter.

Concerned over the rise in objectionable content on social networking sites, the government said today that it would take steps to screen, filter and remove such contents. Earlier, they have taken the matter with  Internet firms like Google and Facebook to adhere to government guidelines otherwise strict action would be taken against  them.

The IT minister while addressing the media said, “The government is not for online censorship, but wants Internet service providers to filter user content in order to remove disparaging and defamatory matter online”.

The minister had first met officials of Facebook, Twitter and Orkut on September 5 to discuss concerns of the government over objectionable pictures being posted on their sites by users.

According to reports, the pictures, which were shown off the record, depicted Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in bad light. Some others were insulting to various religions.

It is learnt that some pictures on facebook and twitpic sites cartoonised Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in unacceptable poses. Distorted minds have badly depicted even the god and goddess in such a poses which were insulting to various religions, which may flare up violence.

Cartoonists have freedom to scoff off the personality of stars and leading leaders of the whole world but even they also restrain themselves for showing religious entity in nude pose.

M.F HUSAIN
Already the Indian born World leading painter, Maqbool Fida Husain, popularly known as M F Hussein, has already burn his fingers for showing nude pictures of Bharat matta and goddess, for his freedom of expression led him to die in Qatar after his mistakes because it is Bharat where cultural Hindu lives withmillions of god and goddess.

“Some are complaining about the receiving of nude pictures of prostitutes along with adult search bar-if these are reaching in the hands of children who remain  on facebook and twitter, may turn them into criminals and spoil the lives of many girl and boys.

Facebook has already confirmed that it recognises government’s interest in removing abusive content and will engage with Indian authorities on the issue.

What Kapil Sibal was intention for filtering of bad contents has received mixed response from  various quarters-majority of free press lovers have badly criticised the move of him and call it censorship.

But  these people have to think about the strict action against those who are misusing the social networking media for transferring porno files and photos who do not desire it.
