Please read in details "'It's not cricket' was an adage. It is the insidious effect of your actions on professional cricket and the followers of it which make the offences so serious," said Justice Cooke in his sentencing remarks. "The image and integrity of what was once a game, but is now a business is damaged in the eyes of all, including the many youngsters who regarded three of you as heroes and would have given their eye teeth to play at the levels and with the skill that you had. "These offences, regardless of pleas, are so serious that only a sentence of imprisonment will suffice," he told the convicted quartet. "What we consider that tainted players should be penalised by longer jail terms with highest fine in cash because they are paid highly and further they cheated sentiments of the people who love them & the cricket or any other games. Having fixed the match though it does not matter to spectators which team wins or looses because they( Game lovers) go there for amusements, fun & entertainment for which fun they pay. It is just a betrayal with its own country to which you represent so related country should also severely punish them as per law of the country".

"It can be doubted that in the profession of match fixing their manager are also involved because the cricket appears to be circus than game where every one work for money".

"It is painful to listen (to) the news as a former Pakistan cricketer and I feel really sorry for their families," Khan, who was on a political meeting here, told AFP.

"In a way I also feel sorry for these cricketers because they are from Pakistan where there are massive corruption cases against president (Asif Zardari) and they must have thought crime pays," said Imran Khan, former cricket captain of Pakistan -who now heads his political party -- Tehrik-e-Insaaf (Movement for Justice)। Khan said the punishments are a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket.

"The verdict is a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket and from now on we should be ultra careful and, like we did in the past, should never allow the corruption to set in," said Khan, who led Pakistan to their only World Cup win in 1992.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt received 30 months in jail - the longest term of the three players which he desrved because he insulted his nation. There are moe pak players who are under cloud as per Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWWCTni1oTM
